The curriculum places emphasis on modern methods of natural resource protection through best available technologies and production practices, along with recycling and waste reuse. Environmental aspects of energy production and use are stressed throughout the engineering courses. Students also become familiar with global environmental issues such as climate change, ozone layer depletion, land use change, and global water scarcity and contamination. The first three semesters give students a grounding in basic science and mathematics before the programme moves into applied environmental engineering subjects. Warsaw University of Technology is one of Poland's largest and oldest technical universities, and its Faculty of Environmental Engineering equips graduates for careers in water and wastewater utilities, environmental consultancy, waste management, public administration or further study at master's level in engineering or environmental science.
