Master in Educational Science

The University of Zurich offers a Master of Arts in Erziehungswissenschaft (Education Science). This program focuses on current societal issues in education, upbringing, help, socialization, and learning. Students engage critically with these topics from multiple perspectives. The program is research-oriented and provides in-depth methods training.

Students choose a specialization. Options include Education and the World of Work, Inclusive Education, Social Pedagogy and Socialization, Education, Culture and Politics, or School, Teaching and Didactics. A generalist track in Erziehungswissenschaft is also available. The Master's degree qualifies graduates for academic roles in research and teaching. It also prepares them for careers in administration, consulting, development, media, and public relations.

Admission requires a Bachelor's degree. This can be in Erziehungswissenschaft from the University of Zurich or another university. Bachelor's degrees from Universities of Applied Sciences or Universities of Teacher Education in Social Work or related fields may also be accepted, possibly with additional requirements. Applicants must demonstrate German language proficiency at level C1.
