Graduates work as geologists in oil and gas, environmental consultancies, mining, government agencies, or pursue research and postgraduate study. Many join companies such as Shell, BHP, the UK Environment Agency, or take roles in climate modelling and hazard assessment.

The course is taught at the Waterfront campus within the National Oceanography Centre Southampton, giving students access to the largest Earth and marine sciences library in Europe and industry-standard labs. It holds accreditation from the Geological Society.
