Bachelor in Honours Project

For Bachelor in Honours Project, tuition comes to 17,800 GBP per year.

The University of Plymouth’s School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences is renowned for its immersive, field-led approach to geological inquiry, and this final-year honours project stands as the capstone of that experience. It is designed for students ready to transition from guided learners to independent researchers, providing a platform to tackle authentic scientific questions within the Earth sciences.

Research-Led Independent Inquiry

You will have the autonomy to shape your own research trajectory, choosing between intensive field-based investigations or rigorous laboratory-based analysis. Whether you are conducting up to 24 days of independent geological mapping in locations ranging from the UK to Spain or Norway, or performing sophisticated chemical experiments on deep-sea sediments to reconstruct volcanic history, the project demands high-level analytical thinking.

Students are encouraged to engage with cutting-edge methodologies, including remote sensing and satellite data analysis for mapping African volcanoes. This project is not merely a graduation requirement; it is a professional-grade research experience that cultivates the technical proficiency and critical problem-solving skills essential for a career in the geosciences.
