Master in International Relations Ma

At De Montfort University, tuition comes to 16,800 GBP per year.

Through simulation exercises in modules like Culture, Negotiation and Policy Formation, you will gain practical experience in political negotiation, translating academic theory into the high-stakes environment of policy-making. This programme approaches the global and the international as spaces of contentious politics, actively investigating how racialised, gendered, and classed inequalities shape contemporary societies.

You will move beyond state-centric analysis to evaluate the influence of non-state actors, including transnational social movements, global corporations, and local political organisations. The curriculum is delivered through an innovative block teaching model, allowing you to focus on one module at a time, which provides a more balanced study experience and regular feedback.

Research-Led Global Perspectives

The course is designed for those who wish to critically apply theoretical frameworks to pressing global challenges such as the political economy of development, security, and the precariousness of modern livelihoods. By examining how the global is embedded in the local, you will develop a sense of civic responsibility and the analytical tools necessary to contribute to a more just and sustainable world. You will benefit from the expertise of active researchers, guest speakers, and events hosted by the university's research centres, ensuring your study remains at the cutting edge of international relations discourse.
