Students on the Licence Histoire Approfondie L3 programme research a historical topic of their choice in depth, producing a mini research paper in their final semester. This programme is designed for students considering a Master's degree in research or teaching, journalism, cultural mediation, or heritage, or planning to take entrance exams for public service or the Institut d'Études Politiques (IEP).

The curriculum includes modules on contemporary history, medieval history, modern history, and ancient history. In addition, it has modules on geography, language, and the production, analysis, and interpretation of historical sources and documents. Students also engage in research methodology and are encouraged to participate in the PPI (Professional Integration Path).

Students benefit from the guidance of Olivia CARPI, who is listed as the programme's academic director. Students also have access to the UFR, where they can access resources and support for their studies. By the end of the programme, students will have a solid historical foundation, the ability to analyze and explain complex historical phenomena, and the skills to conduct and present historical research.
