Bachelor in Licence - Histoire

For Bachelor in Licence - Histoire, tuition fees are 178 EUR per year.

The Licence - Histoire at the UFR Sciences Sociales — Université de Rennes 2, on the Saint-Brieuc campus in Saint-Brieuc, France, is a three-year bachelor's degree in French with annual tuition of 178 EUR and a September start. History programs train students in the critical analysis of the past using primary and secondary sources, archival research, and the methods and theories that inform historical inquiry. Over three years, students study history across multiple periods—ancient, medieval, early modern, and contemporary—and across thematic areas including political, social, economic, cultural, and intellectual history. Coursework develops the capacity to read documents critically, construct historical arguments, and situate specific events and processes within broader patterns of change and continuity. Students also engage with historiographical debates about how history is written and interpreted. Some programs introduce cognate disciplines such as archaeology, political science, or sociology. Situated in Saint-Brieuc in Brittany, the campus is a regional outpost of the Université de Rennes 2 network, offering this qualification in a smaller city environment accessible to students in the Côtes-d'Armor department. Graduates of history programs work in secondary and higher education, archives and libraries, heritage management, documentary research, journalism, public administration, and the cultural sector. Many continue to master's programs in history, archival studies, heritage, or teaching certification pathways.
