Bachelor in Licence - Histoire

Tuition costs 178 EUR per year.

History at the Université de Rouen Normandie - Campus Mont-Saint-Aignan in Mont-Saint-Aignan, France, is offered as a three-year Licence - Histoire at bachelor level. Taught in French and starting in September, the program carries yearly tuition of 178 EUR. History programs provide students with a broad chronological and thematic education in the development of human societies from antiquity to the contemporary period. Students engage with political, social, cultural, economic, and religious history across a range of geographic contexts, with particular emphasis on European and French history. The discipline trains students in historical method: critical reading of primary and secondary sources, archival research, historiographic debate, and the construction of analytical arguments from evidence. Written expression and the ability to synthesize complex information are central skills developed throughout the curriculum. Seminars, tutorials, and independent research assignments complement lecture-based teaching and give students practice in sustained historical argument. Students are also introduced to the history of historical writing itself, giving them tools to evaluate different scholarly interpretations of the past. Graduates of history programs are prepared for careers in secondary and higher education, archiving and documentation, cultural heritage management, journalism, publishing, and public administration. Many students continue to master-level studies to specialize in particular periods, themes, or professional tracks such as teaching or heritage conservation.
