Bachelor in Licence - Sociologie

For Bachelor in Licence - Sociologie, tuition comes to 178 EUR per year.

The Licence - Sociologie (Sociology) at the Université de Lorraine - UFR Sciences Humaines et Sociales in Nancy, France, is a three-year bachelor degree conducted in French. It introduces students to the scientific study of social life, institutions, and collective behaviour. Sociology examines how societies are structured, how individuals and groups interact within them, and how social change occurs. Students encounter the founding figures of the discipline — Durkheim, Weber, Marx, Bourdieu, and others — before moving to contemporary theories and debates. Courses cover areas such as social stratification and inequality, work and organisations, family and gender, migration, education, urban life, and political sociology. Research methods are central: students learn both quantitative approaches (surveys, statistics) and qualitative ones (interviews, ethnography, document analysis). The mix of theory and method equips graduates to analyse social problems rigorously and to design or evaluate interventions. Practical research projects and internships are common features of sociology degrees in France. Sociology graduates work in social services, human resources, market research, public policy, journalism, NGOs, and community organisations. Teaching and research paths open after further study at master's level. Many students continue to programmes in social work, urban planning, public health, or research-oriented master's degrees. The programme starts in September and spans 3 years. Yearly tuition is 178 EUR.
