Istanbul Bilgi University

Bachelor in Mechatronics Engineering

İstanbul, Turkey Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Mechatronics engineering combines mechanical engineering, electronics, computer science, and control systems into a single discipline focused on designing intelligent machines and automated systems. Students in this field study subjects such as mechanics, circuit design, microcontrollers, sensors and actuators, robotics, automation, and programming, learning to integrate these areas so that mechanical components can sense, process information, and respond automatically. Laboratory work and project-based courses are central to the curriculum, giving students hands-on experience building and testing devices that combine hardware and software. Typical topics include control theory, embedded systems, industrial automation, robotic manipulators, and mechatronic system design, often supported by mathematics and physics courses in the earlier years of study. Graduates of mechatronics engineering programs find roles in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, robotics, aerospace, consumer electronics, and industrial automation, where the ability to design systems spanning mechanical, electrical, and software domains is highly valued. This bachelor's degree takes 4 years to complete and is taught in English, preparing students to work with international technical documentation, standards, and literature throughout their studies and careers. It is offered at Istanbul Bilgi University in Istanbul, Turkey, a major industrial and technology center, which gives students access to a large ecosystem of manufacturing and engineering companies for internships and future employment. The multidisciplinary nature of mechatronics also equips graduates well for further specialization in fields like robotics or automation engineering, or for graduate study in related engineering disciplines.
