Medical University of Gdańsk

Master in Medicine

Poland Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Medical University of Gdańsk offers a six-year Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program taught in English through its English Division, open to candidates from around the world. The program begins with a mandatory Orientation Week held in the last week of September. Admission decisions are based on a candidate's position on a ranking list, which requires candidates to be at least high school graduates. The ranking list combines points from two sources. The first is calculated from grades recorded on the candidate's official high school transcript or maturity certificate, drawing on two subjects out of four: biology (obligatory) plus chemistry, physics or mathematics, with both required subjects taught at the advanced level. The second is the number of points achieved in an obligatory entrance exam in biology and chemistry at high school level, organized by the university and conducted online, consisting of a written multiple-choice test and an interview assessing English language proficiency, motivation and predisposition for the medical profession, along with knowledge of selected review topics. Candidates holding an IB Diploma are selected based on their scores in biology at higher level (obligatory) plus one further subject chosen from chemistry, physics or mathematics. This ranking-based admission process, combining transcript grades with a dedicated entrance exam, is designed to assess both academic preparation and readiness for English-language medical study before candidates begin the demanding six-year curriculum.
