Master in Medicine

The English-language Medicine program at Wrocław Medical University is a master's degree delivered over six academic years, adapted to the common European program in keeping with European admission standards for medical education, with yearly tuition of 48,300 PLN. Part I, the preclinical stage, covers two years devoted to inorganic and organic chemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, anatomy, histology with cytophysiology, human embryology, biochemistry, physiology, pathomorphology, and medical first aid and CPR; foreign students must also take a course in Polish during these two years so that they can communicate with patients from the third year onward. Part II, the clinical stage, spans four years and begins in the third year with surgery, pathophysiology, clinical genetics, immunology, pharmacology, microbiology, nuclear medicine, pediatrics, and oncology. By the end of the sixth year the curriculum covers resuscitation and anesthesiology, medical ethics, clinical pharmacology, gynecology and obstetrics, palliative medicine, family medicine, forensic medicine with basics of law, neonatology, and ophthalmology. After completing all six years of study and the required examinations, students are granted the professional title of Medical Doctor and receive an MD diploma. Programs of this length and structure prepare graduates for licensing examinations and for careers as physicians, surgeons, or specialists after further postgraduate training, and give international students a European medical education recognized as part of a common academic framework. The combination of preclinical science and clinical rotation, together with mandatory Polish-language study, reflects the practical demands of training doctors who will work directly with patients in a Polish clinical setting before graduating with a globally applicable medical qualification.
