About Master in Mobile Robotics

Applications are due 31 May.

This four-semester Master's programme covers the foundations required to develop intelligent mobile robots capable of perceiving their environment, estimating state, building models, planning actions, and interacting with the world. The programme is research-oriented and draws on competencies from both engineering and computer science. Core topics include probabilistic and learning techniques for robot perception, GNSS and inertial navigation, computer vision, graph SLAM, 3D mapping, machine learning, and robot planning and control. The first semester provides foundational knowledge across these areas through lectures and exercises. In the second and third semesters, students select elective modules from geodesy and computer science, and two project modules introduce current research topics and develop the capacity for independent research. The fourth semester is devoted to the Master's thesis. Students can also choose one course from the broader university-wide offering. The programme targets applicants with excellent Bachelor's degrees in computer science, geodesy, or related fields such as electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or similar, and connects its technical content to societal applications including agricultural robotics, autonomous vehicles, and service robotics. The programme is offered in English at the University of Bonn in Bonn, Germany.
