About the Program

The MSc Nanotechnology at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg builds on material science aspects of nanotechnology through a structured four-semester curriculum. Five compulsory nanotechnology modules form the foundation: Nanocharacterisation Lab Work Synthesis/Characterisation, Computational Nanoscience, Top-Down Nanostructuring, and Bottom-up Nano-Synthesis/Self-assembly. Students supplement these with one core subject in materials science, chosen from options such as General Materials Properties, Materials Science and Engineering for Metals, Glass and Ceramics, Surface Science and Corrosion, Polymer Materials, Materials for Electronics and Energy Technology, Biomaterials, Materials Simulation, and Micro- and Nanostructure Research. Two additional elective modules in natural sciences and technology round out the coursework. Alongside specialist knowledge, the programme places emphasis on soft skills and the ability to engage with scientific project work. The programme accepts entry in both the winter and summer semesters. The programme is offered at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg in Erlangen, Germany.
