Naturalization Test

The Naturalization Test is designed for foreign nationals residing in the canton of Bern who wish to acquire Swiss citizenship. This test is mandatory and assesses knowledge of Swiss culture, history, and the political system. The test lasts for 90 minutes and is conducted in French for residents of Bern. Ideal candidates are those who are committed to integrating into Swiss society and have a basic understanding of the French language.

Participants will study various topics related to Swiss life, including the structure of government, rights and responsibilities of citizens, and cultural aspects. The test requires a minimum language proficiency of A2 in writing and B1 in speaking. This preparation helps candidates feel confident and informed about their new home.

Upon successful completion of the test, graduates can pursue various paths, including roles in public service, community engagement, or further education in Swiss institutions.
