Bachelor in Physics Astrophysics Mphys F3Fm

Tuition fees for Bachelor in Physics Astrophysics Mphys F3Fm are 25,800 GBP per year.

Understanding the fundamental laws of the universe—from the subatomic particles within an atom to the vast evolution of galaxies—requires a rigorous foundation in both theoretical and experimental physics. This MPhys programme is specifically crafted for students who are driven to look beyond the surface of astronomical phenomena to master the underlying physical principles governing them.

Students benefit from a curriculum that balances rigorous core physics with specialized astrophysics modules, culminating in an integrated master's year that emphasizes high-level research. Unlike a standard bachelor’s degree, this four-year pathway provides the maturity and technical depth required to transition directly into professional research environments or doctoral studies.

Distinctive Learning Environment

• Research-Led Teaching: Faculty are active research scientists, contributing to a department ranked in the UK's top 20 for Physics Research Power (REF 2021).
• State-of-the-Art Facilities: Students gain hands-on experience with advanced instrumentation, including high-power lasers, nano-fabrication facilities, and a dedicated rooftop telescope observatory.
• Career-Ready Skills: The programme is accredited by the Institute of Physics (IOP), providing a direct pathway toward Chartered Physicist (CPhys) status.
• Applied Research: A major final-year project allows students to embed themselves within world-leading research groups, with potential for publication in international scientific journals.
