Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior, covering how people think, feel, and act individually and in social contexts. The curriculum typically includes coursework in cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, biological psychology, research methods, and statistics, giving students both theoretical understanding and the empirical skills needed to design and interpret psychological research. Students often complete laboratory or research-based coursework, learning experimental design and data analysis techniques used to study human behavior and mental processes. Depending on the program, students may also encounter clinical, educational, or organizational psychology as areas of specialization within the broader discipline. Graduates pursue careers in fields such as human resources, market research, counseling support roles, education, and social services, and psychology is also a common foundation for further graduate study leading to licensed clinical or counseling practice. This bachelor's program is offered at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, a state university, and is taught in English over a 4-year period. English-medium instruction allows students to engage directly with international psychological research literature, which is predominantly published in English. Ankara's setting as Turkey's capital provides access to a broad academic and research environment relevant to behavioral and social sciences. Across the 4-year program, students generally begin with introductory psychology and research methods courses before advancing into specialized topics, with later years often including independent research projects that apply psychological theory and methodology to original questions.
