Master in Renewable Energy Systems

The Renewable Energy Systems programme at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences focuses on planning, implementing, and managing systems that draw on renewable energy sources including wind, solar, and biomass. It combines technical knowledge with practical training. The programme is available in three-semester and four-semester variants. Students entering with 180 ECTS complete a qualification semester covering foundational courses in renewable energy systems, electrical engineering, thermodynamics, mechanical engineering, scientific work, and cultural studies. The main semesters then cover bioenergy systems, project management, life cycle analysis, Power-to-X, photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, solar thermal applications, and a scientific project. The final semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis and its defence. Elective modules allow students to focus on areas such as bioengineering, data science in Python, environmental and sustainability management, mechatronic systems, or computer-aided process engineering. German language courses are integrated throughout the programme.
