Students on the Illustration and Animation programme engage with a curriculum designed to build a professional creative identity from the ground up, starting with a dedicated foundation year. This initial phase serves as a vital bridge, allowing learners to experiment with diverse visual languages, technical software, and conceptual storytelling before committing to the deeper specialisations of the BA (Hons) degree.

The course environment is structured to mirror contemporary studio practice, where the boundaries between static illustration and moving image blur. By integrating critical theory with hands-on production, the programme ensures that graduates are not just technically proficient, but also capable of navigating the competitive landscape of the creative industries. Whether through narrative character design, experimental digital animation, or traditional printmaking, the focus remains consistently on developing a distinct personal voice that resonates in a professional portfolio.

Creative Development and Industry Readiness

• Exploration of traditional and digital media, including stop-motion, 2D animation, and digital illustration.
• Emphasis on professional development, including self-promotion, freelance business strategies, and collaborative studio projects.
• Access to industry-standard workshops and studios that foster a community of practice among peers and faculty.
