Sosyoloji

Sociology is the study of human society, social relationships, institutions, and the forces that shape collective life. Students examine topics such as social theory, research methods, family and community structures, social stratification, urbanization, and the study of culture and social change. Coursework typically combines theoretical study of classical and contemporary sociological perspectives with training in qualitative and quantitative research methods, preparing students to analyze social patterns and conduct independent research on topics ranging from inequality to migration and social institutions. The discipline develops skills in critical analysis, data interpretation, and written communication applicable across many fields. This bachelor's program is offered at Gaziantep University in Gaziantep, Turkey, with instruction delivered in English over 4 years. Early coursework introduces core sociological concepts and research methods, while later years allow students to explore more specialized topics and complete research-based projects. Studying sociology in Gaziantep offers students the chance to examine social dynamics within a Turkish context while engaging with broader international sociological literature through English-medium instruction. Graduates of the program can pursue careers in research, social policy, community and non-governmental organizations, human resources, education, and public administration, or continue to graduate study in sociology or related social science disciplines. The analytical and research skills developed through the program are transferable to a wide range of professional settings beyond academic sociology itself.
