This program studies the structures, institutions, and processes that shape human societies, covering topics such as social theory, research methods, social stratification, family and community studies, and the sociology of institutions such as education, religion, and work. Students typically learn both qualitative and quantitative research methods used to study social phenomena, alongside classical and contemporary sociological theory. Coursework often examines how social structures such as class, gender, and ethnicity shape individual and collective experience. This 4 years bachelor's program is delivered in English at Ibn Haldun University, located in İstanbul, Turkey. English-medium instruction is intended to prepare graduates to engage with international sociological research and to pursue further study or professional work in globally oriented fields. İstanbul, as a large and socially diverse urban center, offers a relevant setting for applied research projects and fieldwork connected to sociology coursework. Research methods training, including survey design, interviewing, and data analysis, forms a consistent part of the curriculum, preparing students to conduct independent sociological research. Many programs include a research project or thesis in the later years of study, allowing students to investigate a specific social issue in depth. Graduates of sociology programs pursue careers in social research, public policy, non-governmental organizations, human resources, and community development, and the degree also serves as a foundation for further graduate study in sociology or related social science fields.
