Master in Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood)

This program is designed for individuals who already hold a degree and are passionate about early childhood education. The Master of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood) is a one-year full-time or two-year part-time program that prepares students to become qualified early childhood education teachers. It emphasizes a strong commitment to teaching and learning in the formative years of children's lives.

The curriculum includes nine on-campus courses and two practicum courses, allowing students to engage deeply with pedagogies and curricula that are responsive to children, families, and communities. Students will benefit from the expertise of faculty members in the School of Education and Social Practice, gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical experience through in-centre days and block week placements.

Graduates of this program will be well-equipped to apply for teacher registration and provisional certification with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand. They can pursue various roles such as early childhood educators, curriculum developers, and educational consultants. The skills acquired are transferable across different educational settings, making graduates valuable in various educational contexts.
