This three-semester Master's programme focuses on the design, development, and deployment of intelligent systems capable of learning, making decisions, and operating without human intervention. Core subject areas include sensor networks and data fusion, data engineering, computing and software engineering, machine learning and decision-making, perception and cognition, and connectivity. Compulsory modules cover Intelligent Sensing and Exploration, Planning, Control and Decision Making, and Software Methods and System Development. Elective modules address specific aspects of autonomous system development, automotive applications, innovation management, and engineering processes. German language courses are also available among the electives, while the programme itself is taught in English. The programme can begin in either the winter or summer semester and runs for three semesters. A research methods module requires students to apply scientific research methods to a current topic in AI engineering and present findings in a seminar paper. A group project gives students hands-on experience collaborating in a team, culminating in a project presentation and summary paper. Students completing this programme are prepared to design and implement systems that operate across application domains such as mobility, production, agriculture, and medical engineering.
