Master in Architecture and urban planning

Architecture and Urban Planning is a master's degree program at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, delivered in Wrocław, Poland, over three semesters and taught in English, with yearly tuition of 4000 EUR. The programme, offered under the field of study Spatial Management, is open to students with a non-planning background, making it suitable for those whose first degree was in environmental studies, geography, transport studies, landscape architecture, or architecture, as well as those with a background in public administration, economics, sociology, mathematics, physics, or IT and computer studies. Planning is presented as an inter- and multidisciplinary field of knowledge and practice that allows professionals to address the spatial dimension of human activity. Courses and modules provide education in systems thinking and complexity, through systems theory and environmental science, prepare students for leadership and management roles, and focus on policy making, including urban planning, regional policy, EU spatial policy, and marketing of places, as well as on planning law and plan preparation techniques. Courses in models of spatial policy and spatial economics are intended to give students methodological tools for spatial analysis and scenario development. Wrocław University of Science and Technology is described as the only university in Poland offering courses in modelling and computer simulation of spatial development. The programme runs over three semesters and, alongside compulsory courses, offers a variety of elective courses. Urban and spatial planning as a field studies how land, infrastructure, and human activity are organized across cities and regions, drawing on geography, economics, law, and design. Applicants need a bachelor's or engineer degree with a minimum of 210 ECTS credits, assessed individually, and English proficiency equivalent to a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 87 points or an IELTS score of 6.5 points.
