Bachelor in Architecture

Tuition fees are 99,000 TRY per year.

Architecture combines design, technical knowledge, and cultural understanding to prepare students to plan and design buildings and the spaces around them. Students study architectural design studios, building construction, structural systems, architectural history, and design theory, developing the skills needed to translate functional and aesthetic requirements into built form. The curriculum typically balances creative design work with technical coursework in materials, structures, and building systems, teaching students how design decisions interact with construction methods, cost, and regulatory requirements. Design studio courses are central to the program, requiring students to develop projects from concept through detailed design while receiving critique and feedback that sharpens both technical and creative judgment. Coursework in architectural history and theory situates contemporary design practice within a broader cultural and historical context, while subjects such as urban design and sustainable building practices address the relationship between individual buildings and their surrounding environments. As students progress, projects typically increase in scale and complexity, requiring the integration of structural, environmental, and functional considerations into cohesive design solutions. Graduates commonly pursue careers in architectural practice, urban design, construction project management, and related design and planning fields. This 4-year bachelor's program is taught in English at Istanbul Technical University in Istanbul, Turkey, a city whose layered architectural history spans multiple civilizations, offering students a rich physical context for studying building design and urban form throughout the four-year curriculum.
