Inżynieria biomedyczna

Biomedical Engineering is a bachelor's degree program taught in English at Poznan University of Technology in Poznań, Poland, with a duration described as 7 semesters - 3,5 year. The program lets graduates look at the human body and everything connected to it from an engineering point of view. Saving and improving the quality of people's lives depends on advanced devices that are now a routine part of hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers, and designing and manufacturing that equipment requires specialized knowledge. Biomedical engineering is described as one of the leading scientific research fields in European countries and the United States, and this program is framed as an elite engineering study enriched with knowledge of medical apparatus and rehabilitation and orthopedic equipment. Students learn to design and manufacture modern medical apparatus and rehabilitation equipment and to apply modern technologies within medicine, biomedical engineering, and related fields. The program prepares students to communicate effectively with doctors, rehabilitation specialists, and other medical professionals, so they can apply advanced technical solutions in medical settings and contribute to the design of prostheses, implants, and medical devices. As an interdisciplinary course, it gives students knowledge of the fundamentals of mechanics, materials engineering, manufacturing techniques, human anatomy and physiology, engineering biomechanics, the fundamentals of programming, medical electronics, mechatronics, basic imaging techniques and equipment, and modern technologies including 3D printing. As a discipline, biomedical engineering sits at the crossing point of mechanical and electrical engineering, materials science, and medicine, and graduates typically move into roles in medical device design and manufacturing, hospital technology support, rehabilitation engineering, and research and development within the medical technology industry, or continue into master's-level study to specialize further.
