Biomedical Engineering and Technologies is a bachelor's degree program taught entirely in English at Lodz University of Technology in Łódź, Poland, running for 3.5 years with yearly tuition of 16000.0 PLN. The program combines technical sciences with knowledge from the medical sciences, covering electronics, computer science, and the materials technologies used in modern medical equipment. Bringing technical and medical content together is meant to give students a holistic understanding of how medical equipment functions and operates. Core subjects include materials science, electronics and electrical engineering, anatomy and physiology, medical imaging, microsystems in medical applications, medical informatics, biomechanical engineering, and medical electronics. As part of the curriculum, every student at the International Faculty of Engineering completes at least one semester abroad, referred to as the Mobility Semester, scheduled for the 6th semester of study. Graduates of the program go on to work in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and other healthcare facilities, as well as in the manufacturing of medical equipment and devices, trade and technical inspection, and accreditation and certification work connected to medical devices. Others take up roles in the design, construction, and technology of medical equipment, in research and consulting, or in medical administration offices. Because the health industry operates globally, graduates find employment both within Poland and internationally. Biomedical engineering as a field applies engineering principles, electronics, and materials science to problems in medicine and healthcare, covering areas such as diagnostic imaging equipment, prosthetics, biomaterials, and medical device design. It typically draws students interested in working at the interface of technology and patient care, and graduates are also positioned to pursue further study, including second-cycle engineering or biomedical degrees, to specialize further within the field.
