About Master in Biomedical Engineering, Master of Science

The Master's programme in Biomedical Engineering in Lübeck is a joint programme between Universität zu Lübeck and Lübeck University of Applied Sciences. A primary focus of the studies is medical imaging. The programme integrates physical, chemical, mathematical, and computational sciences with engineering principles applied to biology, medicine, and health, covering prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and the development of materials, processes, implants, devices, and informatics approaches. The programme runs four semesters, starting in the winter semester. The first semester is structured to bring students from different backgrounds (electronics, information technology, mechanical engineering, physics, materials technology, or medical technology) to a common knowledge base. The second semester advances to specialised, project-oriented coursework. The third semester is a research internship of at least four months, concluded by a scientific paper, poster, and talk at the annual Lübeck Students' Conference. The fourth semester is devoted to a six-month Master's thesis. The programme is offered jointly in Lübeck, Germany.
