In the skills labs you will work in a realistic ‘home environment’ that mirrors the settings you will encounter in practice, allowing you to develop assessment and intervention techniques from day one.

Occupational therapy examines how illness, disability, trauma or personal circumstances affect everyday activity, and the programme blends theoretical study with placements across physical and mental health settings. Across three years you study the foundations of occupational science, research methods and the influence of environment on performance, while gaining hands-on experience in a variety of approved placements. The curriculum has been shaped with input from local employers, service users and carers, ensuring relevance to the West Midlands community. You also develop research skills to support high-quality service delivery and learn to analyse complex ethical and legal frameworks that shape professional decision-making.

Graduates become eligible to register with the HCPC and can work in hospitals, community services, schools, prisons or private practice.
