Computational Engineering at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is an interdisciplinary discipline that fuses established engineering fields with computational sciences and applied mathematics. The programme trains students to model engineering problems in mathematical terms and produce software to solve them, reflecting the growing role of simulation in both fundamental research and product development. The 4-semester programme starts in the winter semester. Students choose from eight technical application fields including Automatic Control, Computational Materials Science, Computational Mechatronics, Computational Optics, Information Technology, Mechanics and Dynamics, Medical Engineering, and Thermo and Fluid Dynamics. The curriculum is structured into sections covering Mathematics (at least 20 ECTS), Computer Science (at least 20 ECTS), and the chosen Technical Application Field (at least 20 ECTS), alongside a seminar and a 30-ECTS Master's thesis. Students interested in a double degree may obtain a second Master's from the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland, requiring a total of 120 ECTS with at least 30 ECTS from USI and 30 ECTS from FAU. There are no tuition fees for the double degree programme. The programme is offered at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg in Erlangen, Germany.
