İngilizce Mütercim ve Tercümanlık

English Translation and Interpreting trains students to convert written and spoken material between English and their native language with accuracy and cultural sensitivity. Coursework typically covers translation theory, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, terminology management, specialized translation in legal, medical, and technical fields, and computer-assisted translation tools. Students practice translating and interpreting across genres, from literary texts to business documents and conference settings, building precision under time pressure. The curriculum also addresses linguistics, comparative grammar, and cross-cultural communication, since accurate translation depends on understanding both languages' structures and contexts. Graduates commonly work as freelance or in-house translators, conference interpreters, localization specialists, or in publishing, media, and international organizations that require multilingual communication. The discipline combines linguistic precision with cultural knowledge and professional ethics around confidentiality and accuracy. This bachelor program spans 4 years and is taught in English at Istanbul Gelişim University in İstanbul, Turkey. Being taught in English gives students direct, sustained practice in their working language, while İstanbul's position as an international hub offers exposure to business, diplomatic, and tourism settings where translation and interpreting skills are in demand.
