Bachelor in English Translation and Interpreting

Tuition fees are 3,700 USD per year.

Translation and Interpreting is the discipline concerned with converting written and spoken language accurately between languages while preserving meaning, tone, and context. Coursework typically covers translation theory, written translation across genres such as literary, technical, and legal texts, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting practice, terminology management, and advanced grammar and composition in both the source and target languages. Students practice translating and interpreting in controlled settings, building speed and accuracy while learning to handle specialized vocabulary in fields such as business, law, and media. Graduates commonly work as translators, interpreters, localization specialists, or editors, and the skills also transfer well into international business, publishing, diplomacy, and media roles that require strong bilingual communication. This bachelor's program is offered at Haliç University in İstanbul, Turkey, and is taught entirely in English over a duration of 4 years. Based in İstanbul, students are situated in a city with extensive international business, tourism, and media activity, which creates practical demand for translation and interpreting services between Turkish and English. Because the program is delivered in English, students build the target-language fluency the profession requires while also developing formal skills in translation methodology and practice. Over the four years, coursework generally progresses from language and theory foundations toward applied translation and interpreting practice across a range of text types and speaking contexts.
