This program prepares students to translate and interpret between English and other languages across written and spoken contexts. Students study translation theory, terminology management, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting techniques, and specialized translation in fields such as legal, technical, and literary texts. Coursework typically combines language proficiency development with practical translation workshops, interpreting practice in simulated settings, and study of linguistics and intercultural communication. Graduates work as translators, interpreters, localization specialists, and language consultants, in settings ranging from publishing and media to international organizations and business. This bachelor's program runs for 4 years and is taught in English at Istanbul Health and Technology University, located in Istanbul, Turkey. Studying in an English-medium program gives students sustained, intensive exposure to the language they will be working with professionally, supporting the high level of fluency the field requires. Istanbul, as a city with substantial international business and cultural activity, offers practical contexts for translation and interpreting work outside the classroom. The program combines language training with professional skills, aiming to prepare graduates for the accuracy, cultural awareness, and adaptability that translation and interpreting work demands.
