İngilizce Mütercim ve Tercümanlık

English Translation and Interpreting programs train students to convert meaning accurately between English and another language, both in written form (translation) and spoken form (interpreting). The curriculum typically covers translation theory, terminology management, and practice across different text types such as legal, technical, literary, and business documents, alongside interpreting skills for consecutive and simultaneous settings. Students build strong command of both languages involved, along with cultural knowledge needed to render meaning accurately rather than word-for-word. Practice-based coursework, including simulated interpreting sessions and translation workshops, is a common feature, since the discipline requires developing a practical skill rather than purely theoretical knowledge. Graduates typically work as translators, interpreters, localization specialists, or in roles requiring strong bilingual communication, including international business, diplomacy, media, and publishing, with some continuing to specialized graduate study in translation or interpreting. This bachelor program is offered at Toros University in Mersin, Turkey, and is taught in English over 4 years, the standard bachelor-level duration in Turkey. Working with English at the center of the program while studying in Turkey gives students regular exposure to both languages relevant to their eventual translation work. Mersin's position as a port city connects it to international trade, which can be a source of practical translation and interpreting demand in business and logistics contexts for graduates entering the local job market.
