Master in FAME-AIS Functional Advanced Materials Engineering with Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability

FAME-AIS (Functional Advanced Materials Engineering with Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability) is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's programme of 120 ECTS leading to double Master's degrees in Materials Science, with the possibility of earning joint degrees. The programme trains students in all aspects of materials science applied to functional materials, with an emphasis on using artificial intelligence to develop new approaches to designing and manufacturing sustainable materials. The curriculum is structured across four semesters. The first two address general topics in materials science, with teaching grounded in the physics and chemistry of materials and delivered through a learning-by-doing approach that includes virtual exchanges and blended mobility. The third semester is a specialisation phase hosted by one of the consortium's partner universities. The final semester is devoted to the Master's thesis, carried out in a laboratory of the FAME-AIS consortium or at another research or industrial institution. Industry partners, research and technology organisations, and worldwide universities are involved through mentorships, e-seminars, plant visits, and company internships. The consortium brings together seven European universities: Aveiro (Portugal), Bordeaux and Grenoble Institute of Technology (France), Augsburg and Darmstadt (Germany), and Liège and Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium). The programme is fully taught in English. The coordinating German institution is the Technical University of Darmstadt in Darmstadt, Germany.
