Health Science is a bachelor's degree program offered in English at the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, delivered as three-year first-cycle studies in Katowice, Poland. The program prepares students to become health trainers, public health specialists who help individuals and groups assess their lifestyles and wellbeing, set and reach health goals, design health and fitness programs, and provide the theoretical grounding and practical support people need to change their behaviors. Coursework covers health risk assessment, modification of health behaviors, counseling, and the application of lifestyle changes such as nutrition, physical activity, and stress management, all aimed at maintaining health and preventing or reversing the progression of chronic disease. Graduates find work in health clubs, wellness centers, fitness centers, gyms, personal training studios, leisure centers, hotels, resorts, spas, and sports clubs. As corporate fitness and workplace wellbeing initiatives continue to expand, health trainers are increasingly hired by companies and organizations to run workplace wellness programs or manage fitness facilities. The program also prepares graduates to set up their own practice or work freelance as a health or personal trainer, and it is structured to support students who want to sit personal trainer certification exams offered by internationally recognized bodies such as the American Council on Exercise and the American College of Sports Medicine. More broadly, health science as a field sits at the intersection of exercise physiology, nutrition, and behavioral psychology, training graduates to translate research on physical activity and lifestyle into practical guidance. It suits students interested in public health, sports science, or coaching who want a career built around helping people build healthier, more sustainable habits.
