Medical University of Gdańsk

Bachelor in Science in Nursing

Poland Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The Bachelor of Nursing program at the Medical University of Gdańsk's English Division runs for three years across six semesters and is open to candidates from around the world. The curriculum is built on European and US standards and covers basic sciences such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, genetics, biochemistry and biophysics, microbiology and parasitology, pharmacology, and radiology, alongside social sciences including psychology, sociology, pedagogy, medical law, public health, and philosophy and ethics in nursing. Basic nursing care coursework covers the fundamentals of nursing care, health promotion, primary care, dietetics, and physical examination and research in nursing, while specialist nursing care spans internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, midwifery and gynecology, psychiatry, anesthesiology, rehabilitation, neurology, geriatrics, palliative care, the basics of emergency medicine, and long-term care nursing. Following an amendment to the legal Act on the Profession of a Nurse and Midwife in Poland, graduates of the program have the opportunity to obtain a certificate of professional qualifications from the District Chamber of Nurses and Midwives, confirming their qualifications. Nursing programs of this type prepare graduates for direct patient care across hospital wards, outpatient clinics, and community health settings, combining classroom instruction with supervised clinical placements. The breadth of subjects, from basic biomedical science through to specialist clinical rotations, reflects the range of settings in which nurses practice, from acute hospital care to long-term and palliative settings. Medical University of Gdańsk is one of Poland's medical schools offering English-language nursing education to international students, giving graduates a route toward nursing registration in Poland and, depending on further requirements, practice elsewhere, built on a curriculum that mirrors nursing education standards used in Europe and the United States.
