Master in Human and Artificial Intelligence (MSc / MA)

The Master's programme in Human and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Technology Nuremberg connects computer science, psychology, and philosophy to examine human cognition and artificial intelligence from an interdisciplinary perspective. The programme runs over four semesters, beginning in the winter semester, and allows students to build on their Bachelor's background while developing ideas across disciplines. In the first semester, students complete Foundation Modules to address gaps in subject areas new to them, alongside two modules introducing AI, its technical basics, and its social and legal contexts. The second semester deepens knowledge in the three core disciplines and introduces elective modules that allow students to shape a disciplinary focus or build a custom interdisciplinary programme. The third semester centres on interdisciplinary work: modules such as AI and Ethics, AI and Psychology, and Philosophy, Psychology and AI each involve two professors from different disciplines working on real research questions. Students also begin a two-semester Learning in Transformation Project linking theory to practice. The fourth semester is devoted to the Master's thesis. The programme uses a learning design in which students complete tasks throughout the semester and receive regular personal feedback. Students can choose between a disciplinary focus, which is noted on the Master's certificate, or a fully interdisciplinary track. Key Competencies modules support career preparation throughout.
