Interior Architecture focuses on designing functional and aesthetically considered interior spaces, combining elements of architectural design, spatial planning, and materials knowledge. Students typically study design principles, drafting and modeling techniques, and the history of interior design alongside more technical coursework covering lighting, materials, and building systems relevant to interior spaces. Studio work is central to most programs, with students developing design projects that are presented and critiqued throughout their studies. Graduates commonly work as interior designers or architects, often collaborating with architecture firms, design studios, or construction companies on residential and commercial projects. This bachelor's program at Istanbul Nişantaşı University in İstanbul, Turkey is delivered in English over 4 years. İstanbul's diverse architectural and design landscape offers relevant context for studying interior spaces across different building types and eras. The four-year curriculum generally starts with foundational design and drawing skills before progressing to increasingly complex studio projects that address spatial, material, and technical considerations. Model-making, design presentations, and studio critiques are typical components of the learning process. The English-medium instruction is aimed at students seeking an internationally oriented interior architecture education while studying in Turkey. By graduation, students are expected to have built a design portfolio along with technical knowledge of materials and construction methods relevant to interior spaces, preparing them for professional practice or further specialized study.
