International Relations examines the political, economic, and social interactions between states, international organizations, and other global actors. Typical coursework includes international politics, diplomatic history, international law, international political economy, foreign policy analysis, and regional studies, supported by research methods courses that prepare students to analyze global events and policy questions. As students progress, programs often introduce electives in areas such as security studies, European Union politics, or conflict resolution, and many require a research paper or thesis on a specific international issue. Graduates pursue careers in diplomacy, government agencies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, journalism, and international business, and the degree also provides a foundation for further graduate study in international relations, political science, or law. This bachelor's program in International Relations is offered at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, with instruction delivered in English. The program spans 4 years of full-time study, progressing from introductory political theory and history courses toward more specialized coursework in diplomacy, security, and international law. Ankara, the capital of Turkey, hosts numerous foreign embassies, international organizations, and government ministries, giving international relations students direct proximity to institutions and professionals working in the field. As with comparable programs at Turkish universities, the curriculum pairs required theory and methods courses with elective specializations in the later years, preparing graduates for careers in diplomacy, policy analysis, or international organizations, or for further academic study.
