International Relations is a program that examines how states, international organizations, and other global actors interact through diplomacy, conflict, trade, and cooperation. Students typically study international politics, international law, diplomatic history, foreign policy analysis, and global political economy, developing an understanding of the institutions and processes that shape world affairs. The curriculum often includes coursework on regional politics, international organizations such as the United Nations, and contemporary global issues, combined with research and writing assignments that build analytical skills. Students learn to analyze international events, evaluate foreign policy decisions, and understand the historical and theoretical foundations of the international system. Graduates pursue careers in diplomacy, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, journalism, government agencies, and the private sector, or continue into graduate study in international relations, political science, or law. At Istanbul Kent University in Istanbul, Turkey, this program is taught in English over four years at a private university, combining theoretical study of international politics with applied analysis of current global issues. Istanbul's geographic position bridging Europe and Asia, along with its history as a center of diplomacy and trade, offers students a relevant setting for studying international affairs. Across the four years, students build from foundational political science and history courses toward more specialized study of diplomacy, international law, and global politics, preparing them for careers or further study in international affairs after graduation.
