About the Program

MA Musical Theatre is a one-year, intensive postgraduate course for performers committed to a professional Musical Theatre career, awarded as a Master's degree by LAMDA. Training covers ensemble singing and private 1:1 vocal tuition, dance technique across Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Commercial and Hip Hop, and acting-through-song work drawing on composers such as Sondheim, Kander & Ebb, Finn, Bernstein and Schwartz.

The first two terms cover Acting Techniques, Vocal Techniques and Musicianship, Dance & Movement Techniques, and Musical Theatre creation and performance for stage and screen. The final two terms focus on building an audition-ready professional repertoire, culminating in an industry-facing Showcase in London (and New York for those eligible to work in the US), a public-facing musical production, and participation in a Regional Tour.

English Test Requirement

You must be a fluent English speaker. Non-native speakers do not need to provide an English language test report when they apply as we assess English at the auditions and interviews. However, if offered a place, you must provide a Secure English Language Test (SELT) from a test provider approved by UKVI with a score CEFR Level B2 or higher. You must take a UKVI-approved SELT. If you have recently studied successfully for a degree taught in English, you are not required to provide a SELT.
