About Master in MA Playwriting

Tuition fees are 27,500 GBP per year.

MA Playwriting is a postgraduate course validated by King's College London, running one year and one month, full-time, in London. Teaching is delivered by seminar, masterclasses, one-to-one tutorials, group tutorials and writing workshops, and includes theatre trips. Students consider the role of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, in the writing process and creative industries.

Through the course students write two plays: a one-act play developed for a showcase reading, and the first draft of a full-length play for submission to professional production companies. The course is structured into four modules led by course leader Paul Sirett, with additional work on redrafting alongside playwright Tamsin Oglesby.

This is a vocational course; students are not required to write a dissertation. Assessment is based on attendance and contribution to classes plus writing exercises, including written reports, a vision statement, a strategic career plan, the original one-act play, a showcase reading, and the draft full-length play.

English Test Requirement

Equivalent to CEFR level C1 or IELTS 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in all areas
