    About Master in Accessories Design

Applications for the Nov 2027 intake close on May 30, 2027; tuition fees for Master in Accessories Design are 24,000 EUR for the 12-month program.

Designing an accessory means giving shape to an idea.

A bag, a shoe or a small leather good can bring together research, culture, technical expertise and identity. The Master in Accessories Design takes you into this world, teaching you how to design and develop products for the fashion industry, from research through to realisation.

The programme focuses in particular on bags, footwear and small leather goods, bringing together design culture, material research, representation techniques, design and prototyping.

Throughout the year, you will move between research, design and experimentation. You will learn how to turn an intuition into a project, select materials and manufacturing techniques, develop a product and define its identity and positioning. Workshops, practical activities and prototyping sessions allow you to engage directly with the artisanal and industrial processes of the supply chain.

Design therefore meets the reality of industry. Industry Projects, collaborations with companies, company visits, meetings with professionals and a curricular internship give you the opportunity to work on real briefs and engage with the requirements of production.

A programme where creativity and technical expertise work together, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, craftsmanship and the culture of Made in Italy.

The study plan brings together fashion culture, digital representation, materials, design and an understanding of business. At the heart of the programme is Accessories Design, where research takes shape through four projects dedicated to leather goods and footwear. Surrounding the design process are the tools needed to understand every stage of development: from history to material selection, from representation to prototyping, and from design to its relationship with the market.
    History of Fashion
The accessory as a sign of its time. The history of fashion is explored with a particular focus on accessories and leather goods, examining how forms, materials, functions and visual languages have evolved over time. History becomes a research tool to be applied throughout the different design processes, building a cultural frame of reference from which new ideas can emerge.
    Computer Graphics
From moodboard to digital form. From visual research to project presentation, you will learn how to use digital tools to communicate and develop an accessories collection. The course explores the creation of photorealistic digital renderings, working with colour and materials in Adobe Photoshop and developing technical representations using Adobe Illustrator. Moodboards, graphic compositions, technical drawings and renderings become tools for communicating your project clearly and supporting it throughout its different stages of development.
    Material Typology
Understanding materials to design better. Every accessory also begins with choosing the right material. The course explores different types of raw materials and their applications, including leather, linings, natural and synthetic textiles, PVC, PU and 100% natural rubber. Research also extends to alternative materials and their processing, with a focus on the supply chain and the processes that transform raw materials into finished products. The aim is to learn how to select and use materials not only according to their aesthetic qualities, but also in relation to function, technique, production and design.
    Accessories Design
Four projects to enter the heart of the profession. Throughout the year, you will develop four projects dedicated to leather goods and footwear, working on specific briefs and exploring the different stages that take a project from research to product. The work integrates the hours dedicated to Industry Project reviews with the technical preparation needed to explore the design of bags and footwear in depth. Research, concept development, collection development, materials, design techniques and prototyping come together within a complete design process. Each project becomes an opportunity to experiment, test your ideas and learn how to respond to the practical requirements of the supply chain.
    Business Logic and Organisation
Understanding the market your project will enter. A successful design project must also engage with the market. The course takes you through an analysis of the perspectives of consumers, buyers, competitors and fashion critics, using an existing brand as a case study. Starting from this analysis, you will develop a proposal for a prêt-à-porter capsule collection, interpreting the needs of a specific target market. The course also explores fashion brand licensing and the principles of merchandising applied to the design process, helping you understand how accessory design fits into a brand’s wider strategies.
