Physics is the study of matter, energy, and the fundamental forces that govern the physical universe, ranging from the behavior of subatomic particles to the dynamics of large-scale systems. A typical curriculum builds from classical mechanics, electromagnetism, and thermodynamics into more advanced subjects such as quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and modern physics, supported by a strong grounding in mathematics and regular laboratory work where students test theoretical models experimentally. The discipline emphasizes rigorous quantitative reasoning, problem-solving, and the ability to model physical systems, skills that extend well beyond physics itself. Graduates commonly pursue careers in research, engineering, data science, finance, and technology sectors, or continue into graduate study in physics or related quantitative fields. This bachelor's program is offered by İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, with instruction delivered entirely in English over 4 years. Studying physics in an English-medium program supports engagement with the largely English-language body of international physics literature, textbooks, and research publications used throughout the field. Over the four years, students are expected to progress from foundational physics and mathematics courses toward more specialized and advanced topics, along with laboratory components that build experimental skills. This progression from broad foundations to specialization is characteristic of physics programs generally. Located in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, the university offers students access to a substantial academic and research community throughout their physics studies.
