Bachelor in Architecture

At Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Nantes, tuition costs 178 EUR per year.

The Architecture programme at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Nantes (44) in Nantes, France, is the first cycle of professional architectural education in France, leading to a bachelor's degree over three years. French national architecture schools follow a studio-centred model in which design projects form the core of each year of study. Supporting courses cover the history and theory of architecture from antiquity to the contemporary period, structural and construction principles, materials, environmental performance, and urban and territorial planning. Students learn to work across scales, from the detail of a building component to the broader urban landscape, and are introduced to the social and political dimensions of the built environment. Studio critique sessions build both design confidence and the capacity to communicate spatial thinking to different audiences. Nantes is a city on the Loire estuary with a significant port history and a strong track record in contemporary architecture and urban renewal, providing students with rich architectural examples both historic and recent. The Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Nantes is accredited by the French Ministry of Culture. Completing the full five-year programme leads to the state diploma in architecture (diplôme d'État d'architecte), the professional qualification required to practice as an architect in France. Graduates also move into urban design, heritage, and construction management. Instruction is in French; classes begin in September. Yearly tuition is 178 EUR. Admission requires passing a selection process.
