Bilgisayar Mühendisliği

Computer Engineering is a discipline that merges electrical engineering and computer science to address the design and development of both computing hardware and the software systems that run on it. Core coursework generally includes programming fundamentals, data structures, computer architecture, digital circuit design, operating systems, and computer networks, often supplemented with electives in artificial intelligence, embedded systems, or cybersecurity. Students engage in substantial laboratory and project work, building software applications and working with hardware components to understand how computing systems function from the circuit level up through complex software. The field is closely tied to ongoing developments in information technology, telecommunications, and automation, giving graduates a wide range of applicable technical skills. Typical career paths include software developer, hardware design engineer, systems engineer, and network engineer, with opportunities across technology companies, telecommunications firms, and research institutions, as well as further study in computer science or related engineering fields. This bachelor's program is offered at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, a state university with a strong engineering tradition, and is taught in English over a 4-year duration. English-medium instruction facilitates access to international technical resources and supports careers that increasingly require cross-border collaboration. Ankara's status as the capital city provides students with a well-established academic and technological environment. Across the 4-year curriculum, students progress from foundational mathematics and programming courses to advanced computer engineering topics, finishing with a capstone project applying accumulated technical knowledge to a substantial engineering problem.
