Computer Engineering is the discipline that studies the design and development of both computer hardware and the software systems that run on it, combining principles from computer science and electrical engineering. Students learn how digital circuits and processors are designed, how operating systems and software applications are built, and how networks and databases support modern computing systems. A typical curriculum covers programming, data structures and algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, database systems, and computer networks, with elective options in areas such as artificial intelligence, embedded systems, or cybersecurity, along with hands-on laboratory work and project-based coursework. Graduates of computer engineering programs pursue careers as software developers, systems engineers, network engineers, and hardware designers, working across industries such as telecommunications, finance, manufacturing, and information technology services. The combination of theoretical and applied training also prepares graduates for postgraduate study in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical fields for those who wish to specialize further. This bachelor's program in Computer Engineering is offered at Ankara University in Ankara, Turkey, and is taught in English over 4 years. As one of Turkey's oldest and largest public universities, located in the capital, Ankara University provides an established academic setting with the facilities and faculty needed to support a technical engineering program. Delivering the coursework in English over the four years of study is intended to prepare graduates with the language skills needed to work with international technical documentation and collaborate with global teams after they complete the program.
