English Philology at the University of Opole, in Opole, Poland, is a bachelor's programme taught in English over 6 semesters, with yearly tuition of 5,000 PLN. It is designed for students who want to be well prepared for a highly competitive job market in an increasingly global society. Through the programme, students gain knowledge of the language, literature, culture, and history of English-speaking countries, along with practical language skills at a high proficiency level of at least C1. Applicants are expected to enter with an English level of B2. Students also build competencies related to a specialization of their choice, and coursework includes teamwork so students develop the ability to cooperate with others and realize their leadership potential. A programme of this kind typically blends linguistics, literary studies, and applied language training, preparing graduates for careers in teaching, translation, publishing, media, and international business, where advanced English combined with cultural knowledge is valued. The teamwork component reflects a broader emphasis in language degrees on communication and collaborative skills, since many careers open to English philology graduates involve working across teams, cultures, or organizations. Opole is a city in southwestern Poland with an established university offering English-taught humanities programmes for international students. Studying English Philology there gives students a structured path from a B2 entry level to C1 proficiency by graduation, alongside grounding in the wider academic study of English-speaking cultures and their history.
