Uluslararası İlişkiler

International Relations studies how states, international organizations, and non-state actors interact, covering topics such as diplomacy, foreign policy analysis, international law, security studies, and global political economy. Coursework typically includes the history of international politics, theories of international relations, conflict and cooperation between states, and the workings of institutions such as the United Nations and regional organizations. Students develop analytical skills for interpreting global events and assessing the motivations behind state and institutional behavior. This 4-year bachelor's program is offered by Izmir Democracy University in İzmir, Turkey, with instruction delivered in English. Courses often include regional studies focused on Europe, the Middle East, and neighboring areas, reflecting Turkey's geographic position between these regions. Students engage in debate, simulation exercises such as model diplomatic negotiations, and research projects examining current international issues. Graduates typically pursue careers in diplomacy, government foreign affairs departments, international organizations, journalism, and nongovernmental organizations, as well as roles in international business and consulting. Many also continue to graduate study in international relations, political science, or law. The program's base in İzmir, a historically significant port city, provides context for studying Turkey's long-standing role as a bridge between Europe and Asia.
